No. You can apply to start a new chapter. If a chapter already exists at your college, you can explore joining its leadership team instead.
No. Previous club or community experience is useful, but it is not mandatory. We value ownership, consistency, communication, and a genuine desire to help others grow.
No. Chapter Leads do not need to be experts in every technology. You should be curious, dependable, comfortable bringing people together, and willing to keep learning.
Chapter Leads recruit and guide a core team, plan chapter activities, organize programs, grow campus participation, maintain OSCode standards, and share regular updates on chapter progress.
The commitment varies during launches and major events. Expect to make consistent time each week for your team, chapter planning, communication, and activities. The final commitment should be confirmed during the selection process.
You may begin the application individually, but sustainable chapters are built by teams. Selected leads are expected to recruit a dependable core team and share ownership.
OSCode provides onboarding, chapter playbooks, event ideas, brand assets, community guidance, mentor or speaker connections where available, and access to a network of fellow chapter leaders.
Active Chapter Leads may earn certificates, badges, merchandise, community features, mentorship access, and milestone-based opportunities. Eligibility depends on consistent participation and chapter impact.
OSCode can provide program context and chapter documentation where available. Approval requirements vary by college, and the Chapter Lead remains responsible for following their institution’s process.
Applications are evaluated on motivation, initiative, campus understanding, communication, and the practicality of the proposed chapter plan. Shortlisted applicants are invited to a conversation with the OSCode team.
